Mrs. Hawkins teaches the following courses:
IBCA (Introduction to Business Computer Applications):
Prerequisites: Grades 9-12 - It is a year long course.
This course is designed to provide students with basic computer application skills. Students will be introduced to the touch method of operating a computer keyboard to produce simple business documents. Emphasis is placed on computer concepts both hardware and software, word processing, and spreadsheet applications. Computer technology will be presented that could lead to the student's ability to obtain certification in basic information technology.
This course is a prerequisite for most business courses.
Principles of Business:
Prerequisites: Grades 11-12 - It is a year long course.
This is an introductory course in business designed to prepare students for everyday business activities encountered after high school. Banking, the value of credit, a study of insurance, and budgeting are a few of the topics that will be covered.
Publications I (Yearbook I):
Prerequisites: teacher approval required. Grades 10-12 - It is a year long course.
The students enrolled in this course produce the school year book Lion's Pride. Applications for admission to the course must be made and given to the sponsor before scheduling the course. Afterschool work will be required.
Publications II (Yearbook II):
Prerequisites: teacher approval required. Must have completed Publications I (Yearbook I). Grades 11-12 - It is a year long course.
The students must be selected to be on the Lion's Pride Staff. Applications for admission to the course must be made and given to the sponsor before scheduling the course.
Business Computer Applications II:
Prerequisites: Intro to Business Applications and Business Computer Applications I. Grades 10-12. 1 semester course.
This course is a continuation to Business Computer Apps and Business Computer Applications I. This course includes advanced Internet techniques, research on the Internet, and use of presentation software.
