Wild Things Art Contest

Covington High art students Carlie and Brittany recently earned Honorable Mention awards at the Wild Things Student Art Competition.  Their Louisiana native wildlife paintings will be on display in the student showcase area near student services. Please congratulate them on their outstanding achievements!

Spring Student Achievements

4H Winner

Emma, Covington High Senior, was a participant in the  4H regional competition, which was held in Gonzales, LA She place 1st overall, 1st in silhouettes, 2nd Camp Perry challenge and 2nd in slow fire.

Reflections State Winners

Congratulations to the following dance, film, photography, literature, and art students who received awards at the state level for their PTSA Reflections entries:

Halle, Kahlan, Bailie, Rebecca, Makayla, Andrew, Alison, Lillie, Hannah, and Abbie.

Special recognition goes to Halle and Rebecca who will advance to the National Level!

Adobe Premiere Certified

Ginina is the first student in St. Tammany Parish to get Adobe Premiere Pro certified! Covington High began offering Adobe Premiere, Dreamweaver, and Photoshop certifications this year in our Digital Media, Web Design, and Photography classes respectively.

Vonnie Borden Winners

On March 16th, students from the CHS Talented Theatre program competed at the Vonnie Borden Speech and Theatre Festival at Southeastern.

CHS placed second overall in sweepstakes. The one act play, Roundabout Sideways, placed first and earned a superior rating.

In Dramatic Duo, Karah and Kymi placed first, and Sarah and Simon placed third. Both groups got a superior rating.

In Extemporaneous Speaking, Cole placed second and Justin earned a superior rating.

In Original Oratory, Ally placed second and both she and Hannah earned a superior rating.

In Prose Interpretation, Grace placed second and Cassidy placed third.  Grace, Cassidy and Krista all earned a superior rating.

In Poetry Interpretation, Camryn placed second and earned a superior rating along with Emma and Rebecca .

In Dramatic Interpretation, both Cassidy and Camryn earned a superior rating.

All students with a superior rating will compete at the state rally on April 21st at LSU.

Poetry Out Loud Winners

De'Jeune' placed first in the Poetry Out Loud state competition on Saturday and will be returning to the National Competition in Washington DC at the end of April. Justin placed third in the state competition.

Emma Wins 1st Place

Emma Busby a senior at Covington High scored 1st place at the state level in the Women’s Division of USA Shooting Junior Olympics. She qualified to return as a possible competitor for the second time in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Deaf Ed Annual Summit

Allison was honored at Deaf Education Alliance’s Annual Summit on January 26th.  Her artwork was featured on the cover of their summit program.  She was recognized and received an award from Paula Rodriguez, Director Deaf Focus Services, and Ari, dressed as the Deaf social media icon Dr. Pah!  She is also pictured with the Deaf actor/model Nyle DiMarco, who has most notably won America’s Next Top Model and Dancing with the Stars.

Loyola Art Exhibition

Congratulations to Gavin Bridges, Consuelo Garcia, Sabrina Gil, Abbie Hayes, Emia Hernandez, Ginina Biondini, Emma Andrews, and Hannah Ory, and Alise Prince for representing CHS at Loyola University's Diversity and Inclusion Student Exhibition. Also congratulations to Elizabeth Lewis and Abbie Hayes for Taking 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place at the Salad Days Juried Art competition at Slidell Town Hall.
