Help the Covington High Department of Music and Theatre be recognized as one of the top High School Theatre Programs in the country.

STAGE DIRECTIONS, a national theatre publication, holds this yearly contest and does a feature write up on the winning school from each region of the country. CHS offers Avid Certification

CHS media teachers Mike Smith and Vance Lynch went through Avid Media Composer training this summer with the Channel 13 news crew, and became Avid certified instructors! Covington High's broadcasting and multimedia production students now have the rare opportunity to be trained to use Avid Media Composer, the film and broadcasting standard for editing videos. Students who take these classes can attempt to become Avid certified, which is a big help for anyone interested in a career in video editing and production. St. Tammany Parish is one of six school districts across the United States (and Covington High is the 21st school in the nation) to offer Avid certification, so this is a tremendous opportunity for all students!

Students interested in becoming Avid Media Composer: User certified should talk with either Coach Smith or Mr. Lynch and try to enroll in their classes as early in their high school career as they can. The curriculum normally takes two years to complete.
