Barbara Trask Scholarship

The Barbara Trask Scholarship Award – The purpose of this scholarship is to assist students (in St. Tammany Parish) who are pursuing established degree programs at 4 year accredited colleges and universities.


Have senior status
Have a cumulative GPA of 3.0
Have a recommendation letter from a teacher, counselor, mentor or community leader
List extracurricular involvement/leadership in school or community
Submit official transcript and ACT
Be a legal U.S. citizen

SCHOLARSHIP DEADLINE – Applications must be postmarked or emailed by April 28, 2018. 

HOW TO APPLY – Pick up a paper application in the School Counseling Office ASAP if you meet the eligibility requirements above.

Tutoring and Seat Time

Academic Clinic – In the Library

Tues, Wed, and Thurs Morning:    6:55 a.m. – 7:24 a.m.
Tues and Thurs Afternoon:  2:45 p.m. – 3:45 p.m.

Seat time dates and available options:

·Seat time must be done in an academic setting outside of students regular scheduled class day.

·Saturday school 8 a.m.-12 p.m. on dates below and Academic Clinic in library Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday before school at 6:55-7:24 and after school from 2:45 – 3:45. Students must sign in and remain in library during academic clinic time for credit. Short day students have additional options. See Mrs. Pennison for more information or email at

Saturday dates are as follows. Meet at the bus shed near the bell tower before the 8 a.m. start time and our Saturday school teacher will escort to the classroom. Bring schoolwork or reading material during seat time. Regular school policy applies, no cell phones allowed.

January: 6, 13, 20, 27

February: 3, 24

March: 3, 10, 17, 24

April: 14, 21, 28

May: 5, 12

Additional days for seniors are available after their exams are completed.

Reflections State Winners

Adobe Premiere Certified


Ginina is the first student in St. Tammany Parish to get Adobe Premiere Pro certified! Covington High began offering Adobe Premiere, Dreamweaver, and Photoshop certifications this year in our Digital Media, Web Design, and Photography classes respectively.

Vonnie Borden Winners

On March 16th, students from the CHS Talented Theatre program competed at the Vonnie Borden Speech and Theatre Festival at Southeastern.

CHS placed second overall in sweepstakes. The one act play, Roundabout Sideways, placed first and earned a superior rating.

In Dramatic Duo, Karah and Kymi placed first, and Sarah and Simon placed third. Both groups got a superior rating.

In Extemporaneous Speaking, Cole placed second and Justin earned a superior rating.

In Original Oratory, Ally placed second and both she and Hannah earned a superior rating.

In Prose Interpretation, Grace placed second and Cassidy placed third.  Grace, Cassidy and Krista all earned a superior rating.

In Poetry Interpretation, Camryn placed second and earned a superior rating along with Emma and Rebecca .

In Dramatic Interpretation, both Cassidy and Camryn earned a superior rating.

All students with a superior rating will compete at the state rally on April 21st at LSU.

Poetry Out Loud Winners


De'Jeune' placed first in the Poetry Out Loud state competition on Saturday and will be returning to the National Competition in Washington DC at the end of April. Justin placed third in the state competition.
