Matthew Hilker Scholarship

The Matthew Hilker Scholarship

Provides post-secondary funding to a graduating senior in St. Tammany Parish – active on their school’s soccer team.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: 

§  Must play on school soccer team

§  Must have maintained at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA in the TOPS Core Curricula

o   DEADLINE:  All required paperwork must be on file with the St. Tammany School Board before March 16th, 2018.

o   HOW TO APPLY:  Pick up paper application in School Counseling Office ASAP if you meet eligibility requirements.



Tutoring and Seat Time

Academic Clinic – In the Library

Tues, Wed, and Thurs Morning:    6:55 a.m. – 7:24 a.m.
Tues and Thurs Afternoon:  2:45 p.m. – 3:45 p.m.


Seat time dates and available options:

·Seat time must be done in an academic setting outside of students regular scheduled class day.

·Saturday school 8 a.m.-12 p.m. on dates below and Academic Clinic in library Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday before school at 6:55-7:24 and after school from 2:45 – 3:45. Students must sign in and remain in library during academic clinic time for credit. Short day students have additional options. Saturday dates are as follows. Meet at the bus shed near the bell tower before the 8 a.m. start time and our Saturday school teacher will escort to the classroom. Bring schoolwork or reading material during seat time. Regular school policy applies, no cell phones allowed.

January: 6, 13, 20, 27

February: 3, 24

March: 3, 10, 17, 24

April: 14, 28

May: 5, 12

Additional days for seniors are available after their exams are completed.

FAFSA Night Feb 27th

Ms. Barrye Bailey, Education Technology Consultant with the Louisiana Dept. of Education, will be here to help our students and their parents with FAFSA completion on Tuesday, February 27th!  She will be in the library (on the floor) from 7:45 am to 2:40 pm.

Textbook Adoption

The textbook adoption public viewing is from February 5, 2018 until March 5, 2018. The public is encouraged to examine textbooks being considered for Spanish, French, Agriculture and Family and Consumer Science. The books are in the lobby of the front office. Please ask the secretary for a copy of the Curriculum Standards and an Input Form if desired. See this handout for more information (pdf).

Deaf Ed Annual Summit

Allison was honored at Deaf Education Alliance’s Annual Summit on January 26th.  Her artwork was featured on the cover of their summit program.  She was recognized and received an award from Paula Rodriguez, Director Deaf Focus Services, and Ari, dressed as the Deaf social media icon Dr. Pah!  She is also pictured with the Deaf actor/model Nyle DiMarco, who has most notably won America’s Next Top Model and Dancing with the Stars.

Loyola Art Exhibition

Congratulations to Gavin Bridges, Consuelo Garcia, Sabrina Gil, Abbie Hayes, Emia Hernandez, Ginina Biondini, Emma Andrews, and Hannah Ory, and Alise Prince for representing CHS at Loyola University's Diversity and Inclusion Student Exhibition. Also congratulations to Elizabeth Lewis and Abbie Hayes for Taking 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place at the Salad Days Juried Art competition at Slidell Town Hall.
