What is required? In order to graduate high school, you must:

  • Complete the TOPS University or Career Diploma Path
  • Pass three EOC Tests in the following categories to earn a standard diploma: (a) English II or English III; (b) Algebra I or Geometry; and (c) Biology or American History

Along the way, you have opportunities to get college credit early and to go for TOPS, which is the program that offers tuition support to Louisiana colleges.

REQUIRED: All entering students at CHS are automatically placed in the "TOPS University Diploma" curriculum. Students wishing to opt out of the University Diploma Curriculum and switch to the TOPS Career Diploma should meet with their guidance counselor.

End Of Course (EOC) Testing

REQUIRED: In 2005, the Louisiana Department of Education initiated an End-of-Course (EOC) assessment program to support consistent and rigorous standards in key high school courses.  Beginning in 2010-2011 and beyond, all incoming freshmen must pass three EOC Tests in the following categories to earn a standard diploma: (a) English II or English III; (b) Algebra I or Geometry; and (c) Biology or American History.

Early Start/Dual Enrollment Program

RECOMMENDED: Early Start/Dual Enrollment is a program that allows eligible high school students, currently attending St. Tammany Parish public or private schools, to concurrently enroll in a college course.  The credits that students earn will be eligible towards both a high school diploma and college credit.

To be eligible for the Early Start/Dual Enrollment Program, a student must be 16 years old, classified as a junior or senior, and have taken the PLAN test with a composite of at least 14 or an ACT Composite score accepted at the respective post-secondary institutions.
