Dual Enrollment Programs

Juniors and seniors at CHS have the option to participate in dual enrollment (DE) for the following classes:

Covington High Course         Southeastern Louisiana University Course*
Pre-Calculus DE.......................Math 161/Math 162  
Statistics DE.............................Math 241 (Prerequisite: Math 161, grade of C or better)
Algebra III DE.............................Math 161         
Biology II DE..............................Biology 151 – for biological science majors         
English IV DE............................Eng 101, 102   
Spanish III / IV DE......................Spanish 101

Students must take the ACT or the pre-ACT test by the start of the academic year and earn a composite score of at least 19 in order to be eligible for dual enrollment through SLU.  Each course offered has additional ACT/pre-ACT score requirements.

Any student who has taken the ACT in high school may not use Pre-ACT scores for DE qualification.

*There is a tuition requirement for each course, price TBD.

Northshore Technical Community College**

Auto Tech (DE required for enrollment in class at CHS.)
Emergency Medical Responder (DE required for IBC, but not required to be in the class.)
Emergency Medical Technician (DE required for enrollment in class at CHS.)
Certified Nursing Assistant (DE required for enrollment in class at CHS.)

       
**Tuition varies by course. 

Students who earn at least a 15 in English and a 15 in Math on the pre-ACT / ACT and who have at least a 2.0 cumulative GPA are eligible to receive Tops Tech Early Start (TTES) money to help with tuition for classes at NTCC.

Additional criteria required for enrollment in course Students are encouraged to contact the universities they are considering attending to verify that DE credits eared at CHS transfer to the university.
