Intro to Business and Computer Applications (IBCA) ....Grades 9-12 -1 year elective.  This is an introductory course where the student will learn keyboarding and software applications on the PC.  These include word processing, database, spreadsheet, PowerPoint, and an introduction to the Internet.

Business Computer Applications
....Grades 10-12 - 1 semester elective.  A semester of IBCA is strongly recommended.  The student will learn advanced software applications on the PC.  These include word processing, database, spreadsheet, PowerPoint, and an introduction to the Internet.

Computer Applications II. Grades 10-12 - 1 semester elective.  Continuation of Business Computer Applications.

Administrative Support.... Grades 11, 12 - 1 year elective.  Prerequisite:  IBCA.  This class is also known as "Paw Prints." The purpose of this course is to introduce students to the real world of business by operating and maintaining a print shop.  The students will learn various print shop and desktop publishing software, use of digital cameras, scanners, copiers, printers, poster printers sharing files and binding procedures.  The above concepts learned in class will be applied in the school-based printing enterprise called "Paw Prints".  Each student will become a part of and experience a business setting.  They will design and market products, advertise, sell and keep records for a business.  An internship or work-site learning position ma be applied for after completion of 1 year of Paw Prints.  This is a great class for students who like to be involved.

Publications I and II (Journalism)....Grades 10-12 - 1 year elective. The students must be selected via application for the Lion's Roar staff. This course will focus primarily on newspaper production featuring units on hard news writing, sports writing, feature writing, and layout. The class will produce the Lion's Roar, the school newspaper.

Publications I and II (Yearbook)....Grades 10-12 - 1 year elective. The students must be selected via application for the Lion's Pride staff. Students must be computer literate. Students enrolled in this course will produce the school yearbook, Lion's Pride. Applications for admission to the course must be made and given to the sponsor before scheduling this course. After school work will be required, including attending school functions and selling ads in the community.

Students Teaching and Reaching I and II (STAR)....A course designed to attract students to the field of education, providing information and field experiences relevant to pursuing a degree in education, and to prepare them for the rigors of a career in education so they will remain long-term educators. 1 year elective: Using real-life applications, students will be guided step-by-step through the entire process of owning their own business including developing a business plan for a mock business. Additionally, students will develop skills in customer satisfaction and loyalty. The students will gain an understanding of the skills, attitudes, and thinking patterns needed to win customer satisfaction and loyalty. Upon completion, the student will be eligible to test for the National Retail Federation Customer Service Test. Students passing the exam will receive the National Customer Service Certification

1 year elective: This course is an introductory course that provides students with basic business operations skills that can be applied in both personal and professional situations. Emphasis is placed on the exploration and description of basic business concepts and applications. Through business application projects critical-thinking, oral and written communication skills are reinforced in this course.
