Business Law....Grades 11,12-1 semester
elective. This course is designed to give students an understanding
of the fundamental principles of business law and how it operates in
our daily relationships with one another.
Intro to Business....Grades 9-12 1 year elective. This is an introductory
course in business designed to prepare students for everyday business activities
encountered after high school. Banking, the value of credit, a study of insurance,
and budgeting are a few of the topics that will be covered during the year.
Keyboarding....Grades 9-12 1 semester elective. This course includes
mastering the keyboard and basic units on placement, letter writing, tabulation,
report and term paper formatting, as well as keyboarding speed and accuracy.
Accounting....Grades 11,12 1 year elective. This course is designed
to benefit students who plan to major in any business area, who are interested
in starting a business, or want to learn to make personal financial decisions
wisely. The basic course will develop the student's ability to interpret
and analyze business papers and to give them the preliminary training for the
advance study of accounting. During the semester, the students will master
computerized concepts using the Peachtree accounting software package. A
great class for the business and math oriented student.
Paw Prints.... Grades 11,12 1 year elective. Prerequisite: Keyboarding
and Computer Applications I. The purpose of this course is to introduce
students to the real world of business by operating and maintaining a print
shop. The students will learn various print shop and desktop publishing
software, use of digital cameras, scanners, copiers, printers, poster printers
sharing files and binding procedures. The above concepts learned in class
will be applied in the school-based printing enterprise called "Paw
Prints". Each student will become a part of and experience a business
setting. They will design and market products, advertise, sell
and keep records for a business. An internship or work-site learning
position ma be applied for after completion of 1 year of Paw Prints. This
is a great class for students who like to be involved.
Business Computer Application I....Grades 10-12 1semester elective. A
semester of keyboarding is strongly recommended. The student will learn
software applications on the PC. These include word processing, database,
spreadsheet, PowerPoint, and an introduction to the Internet.
Business Computer Application II....Grades 10-12 - semester elective Prerequisite: Business
Computer Applications I. This course is a continuation of Business Computer
Application I. The course includes advanced internet techniques, research
on the internet, and use of presentation software.
Cooperative Office Education (COE)....Grades 12-1year elective. Prerequisite: Senior
students enter the COE program through individual application to the coordinator. 3
units of credit are earned. Credit is only earned with successful completion
of the entire year. No partial credit may be earned. The student
must be at least 16 years old, He/she must have an overall 'C' average. The
student must have successfully completed Keyboarding, and Computer Applications
I. COE is a cooperative work and training program for those preparing
for employment in office occupations. Students must maintain a
job in an office environment.
Multimedia Production I....Grades 11,12 1 semester elective. This
class is designed for students who want a better way of creating visual presentations. This
will be done by using computers to create audio/video presentations for book
reports, science projects, and other projects done in classes.
Multimedia Production II....Grades 11,12 1 semester elective. Prerequisite: A
grade 'C' or better in Multimedia Production I. This is a continuation
of Multimedia I with an emphasis on the Internet and using its resources to
create documents and presentations.
