Left is Mrs. Betty Cronin in her highly decorative LION office. Mrs. Cronin took over the duties of being principal in 1997. She proved to be more than qualified for the job. Students often found her at games, school functions, and just offering to shake someone's hand who may have been passing her in the hall. "Mrs. Cronin really knows how to talk to her students and is genuinely concerned about each and every one. She keeps the school running in an orderly, but fun state."

Mrs. Cronin retired in April 2003 after a long and rewarding career in education of 32 years. She was a principal with great vision for Covington High School and was responsible for making many changes in technology and instruction.

Being a business teacher and a computer literate principal, she was able to bring technology into the forefront of Covington High School. She saw to the training of teachers as-well-as students in the use of the computer and the internet. One of her greatest accomplishments was the establishment of many labs throughout the school. Not only business and computer science had their labs, but the library, the math department, the yearbook and communications classes had their computers also. In addition, the Instructional and Technology lab which was operated by a teacher who had an open door for any teacher and all classes to have computer and internet time.

One could say that Mrs. Cronin was instrumental in helping Covington High School enter the computer age and the 21st Century.
